Teeth whitening
Food, drinks, smoking and the passing of time itself all cause the discoloration of our teeth. Unfortunately, the various toothpastes cannot restore or lighten already discolored teeth. Only special whitening procedures can do this. You can choose between two different procedures: in-dentistry or at-home teeth whitening. They are all equally effective, but it is important to know the differences between them.
Teeth whitening in the dentistry
Of all the procedures, we use the products with the highest peroxide content here. Important preparatory operations (tooth scale removal, caries treatment with fillings, root canal treatment) must precede the treatment, which only takes approx 1 hour. Sensitivity may occur during the procedure, but it will pass soon. In order to stabilize the achieved result, it is worth supplementing the treatment with teeth whitening at home. The procedure can be repeated approximately every 2 years.
Teeth whitening at home
This treatment must also be preceded by tooth scale removal, possible fillings, and root canal treatment. The removal of surface discolorations is also very important because this way the effectiveness of the whitening material, which also contains peroxide, can be increased. In this way, the substance can reach the coloring molecules deep in the enamel, which it eliminates through oxidation. For teeth whitening at home, the patient gets a splint and an appropriate amount of whitening material. At home, this material must be put in the splint, which should be worn for a few hours a day. for 10-14 days. Temporary sensitivity may also occur in this case. If we want to enhance the effect, it is possible to order additional material. In order to maintain the color, it is worth using the splint again for a few days every six months, so we achieve a balanced effect in the longer term.
