Dental crowns, bridges
In case when a tooth has already became completely unsalvageable and its removal is unavoidable, we have to face the possibilities of its replacement. If the restoration is not carried out, the missing teeth will fall over time, so the chewing force in the wrong direction has an adverse effect on the supporting structure of the tooth, causing pain and pocket formation.
The long-term problems that arise in this way are becoming more and more difficult to deal with. In order to avoid this, we recommend replacing the missing tooth as soon as possible, but within one year at the latest. We have several options for restoration, depending on your aesthetic needs or taking into account your financial possibilities, our doctors try to find the most suitable solution for you.
Metal-ceramic bridge
If we choose this solution, you have to count on the grinding of the teeth next to the missing tooth. However, this can also be useful in the case of excessively damaged teeth, since the pillar member of the finished restoration protects the remaining tooth structure of the polished tooth like a cap, protecting it from various damages in the long term. The basis of the metal-ceramic crown is a metal cap made of nickel-chrome alloy, which is covered with completely aesthetic, true-to-life porcelain. By choosing the color that best matches your tooth color and the precise work of our dental technician colleagues, we achieve very beautiful final results that are completely invisible to others and blend in perfectly with its surroundings. It will be completed in 2 to 2,5 weeks.
Zirconium bridge
We recommend this type of restoration if you suffer from metal allergy or you need higher aesthetic result. Similar to metal-ceramic bridges, we have to grind the teeth which are bordering the gap. The frame under the outer porcelain covering, a white material, is made of zirconium dioxide, which is produced by a computer-controlled target machine using the CAD-CAM process. The result is very lifelike, and since the base is not metallic under the light porcelain, its color comes out even better. Further advantage is that later, by the time your gum can be still in its nice shape and a possible margin can also be avoided (gum discoloration in a thin strip on the edge in contact with the crown – this can occur sometimes in case of metallic bridges). It will be completed in 2 to 2,5 weeks.
Grindless Maryland, inlay-anchored bridge
Nowadays, more and more emphasis is placed on preserving the integrity of the teeth, and many patients refrain from grinding their healthy teeth. Considering this, this type of replacement is a good solution, but it can only be used in the case of an independent missing tooth. In this case, we do not grind down the teeth bordering the deficiency, but instead we drill small facets which the replacement hangs into with tiny wings, thus providing the anchoring of the bridge. If there are old fillings in the teeth, we get the necessary veneers by removing them. It will be ready in one week.
Implant-anchored restoration
If the teeth bordering the missing tooth’s gap are completely intact and healthy, implant placement is the perfect solution. In this case, a titanium screw is implanted in the bone, and after complete ossification, the gum-shaping healing screw is inserted. The superstructure is screwed into the implant in the bone and this will form the base of the crown. Since it takes 4-5 months for the upper jawbone and 3 months for the lower jaw to achieve complete ossification, this solution is of course time-consuming.
